Rose Thompson graduated from the Fort Lauderdale Art Institute and completed coursework at the Cleveland Art Institute. Over her career, her work has spanned a variety of media and techniques. Thompson has won numerous awards from the prestigious Broward Art Guild in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Her paintings are currently featured at Bayshore Art Gallery, the leading contemporary art gallery of the Bayshore Arts District in Naples, Florida.
“South Florida artist, Rose Thompson, takes her inspiration from nature. A lifelong sailor and world traveler, a very special overnight sailing passage was from the south of Paris to the Mediterranean ending the trip in Ibiza. Favorite trips include China, Outer Mongolia, Peru, Morocco, and the Canary Islands.
Rose’s paintings capture the energy and movement of ocean waves, windblown clouds, and birds in flight. Her work employs a distinctive sense of light and color that she developed as a professional photographer. She translates these skills in paintings that convey a paradox of coastal energy that is at once both vibrant and delicate. In her recent work in oil and cold wax, subtle layering and texture invite dialogue and dynamic exploration.”
